Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge

The Metrobank Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines and the Department of Education is set to hold the 2012 Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (MMC) from January to April 2012.

The MMC provides our children with a venue to hone their mathematical skills in an atmosphere of friendly competition.

The overall objective is to contribute in improving the quality of mathematics education in the Philippines. Specifically, it aims to:

a) awaken greater interest in Mathematics among elementary and high school students in both private and public schools all over the country;

b) encourage students to strive for excellence in Mathematics;

c) encourage mastery of basic mathematical skills; d) discover mathematical talents among elementary and high school students; and e) provide students opportunities in leadership and cooperative undertaking.

We always look forward and prepare for the contest...We just hope that the yearly contest will be done simultaneously if not nationwide at least by region to avoid unnecessary doubts on the outcome...And please always remind the Division Math Supervisors to always reiterate to the teachers assigned on each room to facilitate the contest according to the rules..like reading the correct answer after each set especially during the clincher...thank you

This year's results of the written individual finals held in Stella Maris QC gives our team an impression that results are not credible, no the organization itself is. How come you have 2 different results for grade 1? the first result is completely different from the second one as if it is pleasing some people who didnt get the top spots in the first results. Suggestion, 1st show the results of the written test to avoid doubts of your credibility 2nd, please give the results of written challenge the day of the contest to avoid speculations of tailoring results. since its a 20 item test it can be checked right away.
