A first year INTARMED student of the University of the Philippines in Manila, Mandac bested other applicants to assume the position as Little NYC Chairperson and experience working for the NYC. Chairperson Flores said that this activity is one way of opening the agency to its clientele, “Bukas ang NYC sa lahat ng aming kliyente. Sa pamamagitan nitong activity na ito, makikita ng mga kabataan kung ano ba ang nangyayari sa NYC araw-araw. Once a year, ibinubukas naming ang opisina para sa sinumang gustong malaman kung paano mag-operate ang NYC.”
Mandac, whose advocacy is youth education, says that being a Little NYC Chairperson will expose her to more opportunities, “I was given the chance to serve as the NYC Youth Chairperson today under the tutelage of Chairperson Leon Flores III. I sincerely thank the National Youth Commission for the opportunity as I was able to get a feel of the day-to-day activities in NYC and learn more about their different initiatives, including SK enhancement programs that will kick off in the near future.”
Aside from being a student, Mandac is also a writer. She has recently won in a national essay writing competition sponsored by Pentel. She also maintains a blog at johnamandac.wordpress.com.
