SHORT-TERM INVITATION PROGRAMME UNDER THE EXCHANGE PROJECT WITH ASIA-OCENIA AND NORTH AMERICA
The National Youth Commission opens the application to the Short-term Invitation under the Exchange Project with Asia-Oceania and North America, also known as the Kizuna Project to be held in Japan in December 2012 and March 2013. Kizuna is the Japanese word for ‘bond’ or ‘tie’.
The Kizuna (Bond) Project is jointly implemented by the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan in Manila, the National Youth Commission, and the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE). Under this project, more than two hundred (200) hundred Filipino college students with ages 18 - 24 shall have the opportunity to participate in programs which are part of the reconstruction plans of the Japanese government. It aims to promote global understanding of Japan’s revival efforts in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake. The program is also open to eight (8) Filipino supervisors from 30 – 55 years old.
Delegates will be provided with round-trip airfare (Manila-Japan-Manila), food, accommodation, and local transportation in Japan, where they will stay for ten (10) days; round-trip transportation from point of origin to Manila shall be shouldered by the participants.
Deadline for submission of application and requirements is at 5:00 PM on September 28, 2012.

Hi, may I just clarify that the program is not open to college graduates. The program specifically requires applicants who are college-level, currently-enrolled students.

Just a question, there is a presence of the word "if" regarding the requirement of passport, so does that mean thay upon submission on Sept 28 passports are not required?
Also, what if you have no sickness or anything? What will I put in the letter of consent?

BTW, I'm also a former JENESYS Ambassador last 2010. And to answer the questions of my co-JENESYS participants, I think we're banned for 2 years if the program is shouldered by the organizing body.
It is stated in the entry form and I quote, "• Participants of any NYC-coordinated international program from 2010-2012 which round-trip airfare, food and accommodation were borne by the organizer/s are disqualified from participating."

It doesn't matter what is your school's numerical transmutation. If your grade is 85%, I think your eligible to join. :) You can ask Ms. Lutchie about it. Perhaps, you may call NYC regarding your question.
Nope. TOEFL is not required. Just assess your English proficiency honestly. When I applied for JENESYS, I included my score I got in my NCAE. Hope this helps. :)

Kizuna is open for college students who are 18-24 years old upon application. Regarding the volunteer form, youth is qualified until 35 years old, meaning under ka pa rin sa NYC even you're already 26. :)

when sa november malalaman ang mga pumasa?
in line to sa mga applicants na wala pang passport dba my 1st batch which is sa december. hindi po ba namin malalaman ASAP kung sino-sino ang pumasa. para sa katulad ko for example, ay maka apply na for passporting. what if mag apply na ako ngyon tapos at the end of the day hindi pala aq natanggap. kamusta naman ang passport ko at perang nasyang ko..
ang point ko lang sana ma ilabas ang result or maka recieve na kami ng notice. para magawa na namin ang aming next move

They said that if the results will be released either this week or before December. Only those that were accepted for the first batch will be notified. Screening process is still on going for the 2nd and 3rd batch =)

That's what I did when I needed to renew my passport for Thailand since I had to present my paper (thesis). Other than the requirements needed for renewal, I submitted to DFA the letter of acceptance from the organizer, the letter of request from the professor, and the flight details (e-ticket). When claiming your passport, please go to the Office of the Passport Director right away. Make sure that you have the letter of request and the flight details for you to claim your passport.

I called NYC a while ago. They told me that the results (Letter of Acceptance) for Batch 1 will be released within this week through courier (LBC). They don't have the exact dates for the release of results for Batches 2 & 3. Kaya tingin ko, sa February pa ilalabas ang resulta for Batches 2 & 3. All applicants, qualified and not qualified will be notified through mail (courier and snail mail respectively). Good luck! Sana tanggap tayo!

guys according to nyc the release of the results for the following batches might be at the 2nd week of december. Now im anxious bcoz i pass my requirements early. I pray that i will be one of the chosen student for the next batches
(1) Upon submission, you don't even inform us if you've received our applications. A simple text or email would suffice. It is disappointing to know that NYC wouldn't go the extra mile. NYC is supposed to represent the youth i.e. it should represent change in the bureaucracy in government, more dynamic and responsive leaders and the like.
(2) Given that Batches 2 & 3 are supposed to leave my mid-March, it is very disappointing to note that the results are still not out as of 25 January 2013. Everyone (especially those coming from the provinces) should be afforded the time to prepare and to save enough money for airfare (to get to Manila) and pocket money. I was hoping that NYC would be more competent than other government agencies.
(3) As I read the comments above, there have been requests to post the names of those who made it to the 1st Batch. Why was this not posted? NYC should be more transparent.
(4) Also on tranparency, what are your other criteria in choosing the students and supervisors (aside from the very basic requirements stated in the application form)? You should enlighten everyone as to how the screening process goes. We are all in the dark and would very much want to be enlightened.

It's already February 5, 2013 and it appears that we are all still in the dark as to whether the results have been released or not. I've already contacted NYC and asked the Commissioners themselves to explain some things i.e. specific qualification requirements, timeline and non-posting of accepted applicants.. To date, I still have not heard from a single Commissioner. Will wait for a few more days for a response and if I don't get any, will try to look for other legal means na. After all, we are entitled to know and demand for said information (including the list of accepted applicants) as these are considered public information.
I'm not sure on how specific you wanted the details to be for the qualification requirements, but I guess pretty much of it were in the application form already. The font's tiny though but it's there. Well at least for the students', just not sure with the supervisors' application form 'cause I haven't seen it.
As for the timeline, were you talking about the schedule of activities to be done? If so, it's in the "Briefer (Batch Schedule)" excel document uploaded together with the other forms^^ It's not very detailed, but at least we get the idea of the things to expect (AM/PM activity schedules) during the duration of the program.
(1) I saw the qualification requirements for both students and supervisors. I agree with you that the requirements for students are more clear-cut. My question will mainly be as to how they "rate" the students (or supervisors). I heard that there were a thousand applicants -- what happens if all of them complied with the GWA requirement and all the other requirements? How will they then choose? It's indeed more complicated for supervisors as the requirements are less specific -- there are gray areas hence what qualifications did they look at?
(2) As to the timeline -- I'm not talking about the schedule in Japan itself. I'm talking about when they release the results. It appears that people only started receiving notices on 13 Nov 2012 for Batch 1. You have to take into consideration the participants from the provinces (especially Visayas and Mindanao) -- airfare in not cheap, accommodation in Manila (?), and maybe a little of pocket money. Those were the considerations I had in mind.
Comments here might get uglier and that does not speak well of the National YOUTH Commission. The chain of opinions./comments posted here are valid and it's just a matter of copy/paste before they send this this to the Office of the President or the Japanese embassy and that's the last thing that we want to happen here.

I am one of those who applied but doesn't have a passport. After I received the letter, I immediately gather all the requirements for my passport and headed to Bacolod at DFA regional office.
Eventhough, I gave/show them the letter that was addressed to Hon. Jaime Victor Ledda. They are still telling me that I can expect my passport this March. I told them that I needed it on or before Feb. 28 the deadline for NYC Visa Application and begged them to help me. But they just told me that I'll just call them for updates.
Can someone give me advice or help, I dont know what else to do, all I need for now is a passport to finally participate to this project.
